Brazilian Ex‑Governor Garotinho Releases Video of Lavish Party Hosted by Financier Daniel Vorcaro with Naked Politicians
Former Rio de Janeiro governor Anthony Garotinho announced that he possesses video footage of a party dubbed the “Night of the Astronauts,” organized by businessman Daniel Vorcaro in a New York suite. The recording, which he described on his podcast, shows models who were nude and wore astronaut helmets, while the male guests—according to Garotinho—included deputies, senators, governors and senior government secretaries.
Garotinho said the event cost more than US$721,000 (approximately R$3.7 million) and that the models were recruited from Eastern‑European countries to avoid understanding the conversations. The allegations appear amid a Federal Police investigation that has traced Vorcaro’s spending of roughly R$11.9 million on luxury gatherings with politicians, including a similar party in Trancoso, Bahia. The Public Ministry has also requested a probe by the Federal Court of Accounts, though the latter closed the case for lack of evidence. The matter remains under investigation by the Supreme Court’s Justice André Mendonça.
