Brazilian Federal Court archives investigation into Marcola
A Brazilian Federal Court has ordered the archiving of an investigation into Marco Willians Herbas Camacho, known as Marcola, regarding a suspected rescue plan for leaders of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). The decision follows a request from the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), which concluded there was insufficient evidence to justify further proceedings.
The investigation, part of Operation Anjos da Guarda, began in 2022 to probe potential schemes to remove PCC leaders from the federal prison system. Despite four years of surveillance, wiretapping, and data breaches, the MPF determined that no elements could link Marcola to the alleged plot. Defense attorney Bruno Ferullo stated that the ruling reinforces constitutional guarantees of the presumption of innocence.
In a separate development, authorities arrested Leandro Leite Silva in Mongaguá, on the coast of São Paulo. Silva is identified by police as a financial manager for the PCC, allegedly overseeing cash flows in São Paulo, Guarulhos, and Taubaté. During the operation, police seized electronic devices and a scooter, discovering spreadsheets indicating financial movements exceeding R$ 2 million linked to the criminal organization.
