Brazilian woman's death in Croatia prompts family plea for investigation
The family of Kathlyn Izabel Becker, a 28-year-old Brazilian woman, is calling for a Federal Police investigation into her death in Zagreb, Croatia. Becker, originally from Ji-Paraná, Rondônia, had traveled to Europe seeking work to support her family. After her initial job in Serbia did not materialize, she moved to Croatia. She was found dead in a hotel room in August, with the cause of death listed as “unidentified” on her death certificate. Her family reports she had been receiving threats and is seeking clarity on the circumstances of her passing.
In a separate criminal case in Santa Catarina, Brazil, a 66-year-old man named Odilon de Oliveira Cândido was murdered in Passo de Torres. Police arrested a couple who allegedly lured the victim to a false romantic encounter via the internet for the purpose of extortion. The suspects, who were facing financial difficulties, reportedly killed the man with a knife after discovering he only had R$ 5. The couple was apprehended in Garopaba, where they were found with the victim's vehicle.
