Brazilian Federal Police launch Operation Artemis IX
The Brazilian Federal Police have launched Operation Artemis IX to investigate the storage of child sexual abuse material in digital environments. The investigation focuses on an individual suspected of acquiring, possessing, or storing photographs, videos, and other explicit recordings involving children and adolescents over a nine-year period, spanning from 2017 to 2026.
Conducted by the Federal Police in Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, the operation involved the execution of search and seizure warrants issued by the 2nd Criminal Court of the Água Boa district. Electronic equipment and other materials seized during the action have been sent for specialized forensic analysis. Authorities aim to determine if additional illegal files exist and to identify potential connections between the suspect and other individuals involved in similar crimes.
The Federal Police have issued an alert to parents and guardians, emphasizing the necessity of monitoring children and adolescents in both physical and virtual environments to prevent sexual abuse and exploitation.
