Daniel Vorcaro hires lawyer Daniel Bialski in Banco Master case
Ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro, under investigation for a multibillion‑real‑estate fraud scheme at Banco Master, has added criminal lawyer Daniel Bialski to his defence team. Coordination of the defence remains with Sergio Leonardo, who has led the case since its inception.
Vorcaro previously submitted two proposals for a plea‑bargain (delación premiada) to the Federal Police and the Attorney General's Office, both of which were rejected for lacking new, substantive information. Bialski, who has defended high‑profile figures such as former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, will review the case files and assess whether a new agreement can be pursued.
Separately, former Banco Master partner Augusto Lima has had his testimony postponed for a third time at the request of his lawyers. The Federal Police consider his testimony key to clarifying the alleged money‑laundering links between Banco Master, the companies Tirreno and Cartus, and a suspected benefit to Senator Jaques Wagner, including a R$ 2.4 million apartment in Salvador. Wagner is scheduled to appear before the police on Thursday.
The developments have drawn attention from politicians, especially within the PT, given the alleged connections between Lima and Wagner.
