Brazilian Federal Police postpone testimony of businessman Augusto Lima in Master Bank fraud probe

The Federal Police in Brazil delayed the scheduled testimony of businessman Augusto Lima, former partner of Daniel Vorcaro, in the investigation of a multibillion‑real fraud scheme at Banco Master before the bank’s liquidation. The postponement was requested by Lima’s defense, following earlier delays in January and June, and no new date has been set.

Investigators consider Lima’s testimony crucial to clarify his involvement in transactions linked to companies Tirreno and Cartus, which are suspected of money‑laundering activities. The probe also examines Lima’s relationship with Senator Jaques Wagner, who is alleged to have received a R$2.4 million apartment in Salvador through intermediaries. Police intercepted messages and recorded 74 phone contacts between Lima and Wagner over about 18 months. Wagner is set to be summoned to testify at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasília.

The case is part of Operation Compliance Zero, which aims to uncover the full extent of the fraud and any political corruption tied to the Master Bank scandal.
