Brazilian Federal Universities Publish Research on Transparency and Workplace Exoskeletons

Two recent dissertations from Brazil's federal universities examine distinct aspects of public service and worker health. At the Federal University of Paraíba, a study of course coordinations in the Center of Social Sciences and Applied evaluated how university staff understand and apply the Access to Information Law (Law No. 12.527/2011). The research identified gaps in knowledge about transparency versus personal data protection, a lack of standardized procedures, and limited training, and it proposes a guide of best practices for improving public information access within academic units.

Meanwhile, at the Federal University of Bahia, a project titled “Operator 4.0” designed and tested a passive lumbar‑support exoskeleton for manual labor. The 3‑D‑printed device, using elastic bands, was evaluated with eight volunteers performing two standardized tasks. Results showed a measurable reduction in heart‑rate levels during activity while maintaining safe blood‑oxygen saturation, indicating decreased physical strain when the exoskeleton was used.
