Brazilian film productions advance with new biopic casting

Production for two major Brazilian biographical films is underway. In the film ‘Marília’, which chronicles the life of the late singer Marília Mendonça, actress Klara Castanho has shared behind-the-scenes images of her characterization as Maiara. Marina Versos will portray Mendonça, with the narrative expected to cover the singer's journey from her adolescence in church to her rise as a musical star before her death in 2021.

Separately, actress Cláudia Abreu is in negotiations to play Laura Moreira Braga, known as ‘Lady Laura’, in the upcoming biopic ‘Detalhes de uma Vida’ about singer Roberto Carlos. The role became available after Débora Falabella declined the invitation. The production, which is scheduled to begin filming in September, already features Victor Medeiros as the adult Roberto Carlos and Marina Ruy Barbosa as his first wife, Nice.
