Brazilian films win awards at Cannes and Barcelona festivals

Brazilian film productions have received international recognition at major festivals in France and Spain.

The documentary ‘Em Forma de Sonhos’ won two awards at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2026 in France, specifically in the ‘Ethnology and Sociology’ and ‘History and Personalities/Portraits’ categories. Directed by Alexandre Moretzsohn, the film follows the stories of six Brazilian families pursuing homeownership across various states, including Ceará, Amazonas, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and the Distrito Federal.

In Spain, the short film ‘Mar de Mães’ secured two honors at the Barcelona Indie Awards 2026, winning Best Short Film and Best Production. The 25-minute film, which explores the challenges of modern motherhood and female identity, was the only Brazilian entry among nearly three thousand submissions at the festival.
