Brazilian firefighters rescue trapped dog and giant lizard in separate incidents

In Piracanjuba, Goiás, a team from the Corpo de Bombeiros Militar responded to a call about a dog whose head was caught between the bars of a gate. Using specialized equipment, the firefighters carefully opened the metal structure and freed the animal without injury, returning it safely to its owner.

Later in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, the same fire service rescued a large teiú (Salvator merianae), a South‑American lizard that can reach 1.6 metres in length. After locating the reptile on Avenida Independência, officials captured it with a pole and container and transferred it to the Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente's wildlife triage center for veterinary assessment and eventual release.

Both rescues highlight the fire department’s role in animal‑safety emergencies across Brazil.
