Brazilian football clubs renew contracts with defenders

Rio Branco-ES has officially renewed the contract of defender Matheus Castelo until 2027. The 28-year-old, who has played over 60 matches for the club and was part of their state championship title, will begin his third season with the team. Castelo is expected to join the squad in late November ahead of pre-season training in December.

In another move, ABC has extended the contract of 27-year-old defender Fabão through the end of 2027. Despite facing injuries during the season that required surgery, the club's management decided to retain him as part of their strategy to maintain the core of the squad that achieved national promotion. Fabão's renewal follows previous extensions for other players including goalkeeper Matheus Alves and defender Wellington Carvalho.
