Brazilian Gen Z groups inspired by Nepal protests organize ahead of elections
Brazilian Generation Z groups are reportedly organizing on Telegram, drawing inspiration from the violent 2025 protests in Nepal that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and 51 deaths. These monitored discussions involve efforts to mobilize against the Brazilian political system ahead of upcoming elections.
Authorities have previously intervened in these movements. Last year, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro (PCRJ) arrested three individuals in Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo for allegedly planning terrorist attacks intended to draw attention to their cause.
While initial discussions focused on radical actions modeled after the Nepalese unrest—which saw the burning of the Parliament and Supreme Court—the Brazilian groups have recently shifted their rhetoric, claiming to seek revolution through peaceful demonstrations.
