Brazilian gubernatorial hopefuls launch regional outreach tours

Pre‑candidate Álvaro Dias (PL) began his "Endireita RN" project in Rio Grande do Norte, holding a series of regional meetings. The first session took place in Santa Cruz on Thursday, focusing on the "New Route of Trairi and Agreste". Subsequent gatherings were scheduled for São Tomé and Caicó, bringing together local politicians, mayors and community leaders to discuss proposals for the 2026 state elections. Attendees included senators Rogério Marinho and Styvenson Valentim, vice‑governor hopeful Babá Pereira and Senate candidate Coronel Hélio.

In Rio de Janeiro, pre‑candidate for governor Douglas Ruas convened 53 mayors from across the state’s metropolitan, Baixada Fluminense, Norte, Noroeste, Serrana, Costa Verde, Médio Paraíba and Lakes regions. The meeting featured former Nova Iguaçu mayor Rogério Lisboa, recently confirmed as Ruas’s vice‑governor running mate, and leaders of the PL, PP and União Brasil parties. Participants discussed infrastructure, health, education, urban mobility and public security, emphasizing the need to strengthen the state’s interior beyond the city’s tourist zones.
