Brazilian health regulators shut illegal weight‑loss clinic and sanction dental services

In Panambi, Rio Grande do Sul, a joint operation by the State Public Ministry, the Civil Police and the Sanitary Surveillance agency ordered the closure of a clandestine clinic that administered the weight‑loss drug tirzepatide without a medical prescription. The clinic lacked a sanitary license, stored the medication improperly, offered nutrition plans without qualified professionals and the owner was arrested during a search‑and‑seizure warrant.

In Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, the State Consumer Defense Secretariat, Procon‑RJ and the Regional Dental Council inspected two dental clinics. Inspectors found that one clinic advertised an “Angra Plan” as a dental health plan despite it not being registered with the National Health Agency, constituting misleading advertising. The other clinic failed to keep an authenticated complaints book as required by state law. Both clinics were ordered to cease the irregular practices and were warned about consumer‑protection violations.
