Brazilian highway accidents disrupt traffic in Paraná and Santa Catarina
A frontal collision between a Fiat Strada pickup and a truck on the BR-280 highway between Barracão and Flor da Serra do Sul in Paraná caused both vehicles to fall into a ravine. The driver of the Strada was conscious but reported chest and leg pain; the truck driver and passenger suffered minor injuries. All three occupants received on‑scene medical care, with the Strada driver taken to a hospital in Dionísio Cerqueira.
Later the same day, a separate crash between a car and a truck on the BR-470 near kilometer 58 in the Badenfurt district of Blumenau, Santa Catarina, forced the closure of the left lane. The blockage created nearly five kilometres of traffic queues and increased travel time to 24 minutes. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.
