Brazilian hospitals earn top safety and stroke‑care certifications

The Hospital Materno‑Infantil de Barcarena (HMIB) in Pará received the ONA Level 1 accreditation, the highest national seal for patient safety and hospital management. The certification, valid for two years, confirms the maternity unit meets strict structural and procedural standards and serves 11 municipalities in the Tocantins integration region.

The Hospital Geral de Palmas (HGP) in Tocantins was awarded the international Diamond Seal of the Angels Awards for its Acute Stroke Care Unit. The distinction recognises the hospital’s rapid, evidence‑based treatment of stroke patients and reflects state investment in a coordinated care network that links primary care, emergency services and rehabilitation centres.

Both certifications are presented as milestones in Brazil’s public‑health system, aiming to improve outcomes for mothers, newborns and stroke victims across the regions they serve.
