Brazilian Hospitals Expand Blood and Bone Marrow Donation Registrations

The Hospital Centenário in São Leopoldo, in partnership with the municipal health department and the state blood center, registered 61 new bone‑marrow donors on 17 May. The donors’ genetic data were entered into Brazil’s national Redome registry, increasing the pool of potential matches for patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other blood disorders.

In Bento Gonçalves, the city government, the Regional Hemocenter of Caxias do Sul and Hospital Tacchini will hold a blood‑donation drive on 5 August. The event includes free transportation to the regional hemocenter and pre‑registration requirements, aiming to maintain safe blood‑bank levels for hospitals across the region.
