Brazilian industrial federations call for fiscal reforms

The Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) and the Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina (FIESC) have issued calls for urgent structural reforms and fiscal consolidation to support national industrial growth.

Firjan emphasized that balancing public accounts is essential to reducing long-term risk premiums, unlocking private investment, and maintaining low interest rates and controlled inflation. The entity stressed the need for a competitiveness agenda to reduce structural costs and simplify the business environment.

Similarly, FIESC expressed concern regarding Brazil's fiscal scenario, noting that increased public spending could drive inflation and raise credit costs. The federation highlighted that current conditions favor the import of finished goods, making it difficult for domestic industries to compete internationally. FIESC also advocated for improved infrastructure investments, particularly regarding federal highways in Santa Catarina, to resolve logistical bottlenecks.
