Brazilian infant Noah revived after being declared dead at São Paulo's Santa Casa hospital

One‑month‑old premature baby Noah Gabriel da Cruz Santos was born in Rio Claro, São Paulo, and was admitted to the intensive care unit of Santa Casa hospital for heart and lung surgery. On 15 July the infant suffered a cardiac‑respiratory arrest and, after 45 minutes of unsuccessful resuscitation, doctors declared him dead and prepared a body bag for a funeral.

A funeral‑home employee opened the bag and observed the baby moving and gasping for air. Hospital staff were alerted, and Noah was rushed back to the ICU, where he survived. The hospital says standard protocols were followed and has not yet announced an investigation. Mother Letícia Cristina da Cruz Santos shared the shocking turn of events on social media, emphasizing that her son received proper care throughout his stay.
