Brazilian influencer sees shark chase ray; viral video shows man with octopus
During a boat trip to Jamaica, Brazilian influencer Virginia Fonseca observed a shark pursuing a ray in shallow water. Researcher Patricia Charvet of the University of Ceará explained that while sharks commonly eat rays, such recordings are rare. She noted the behavior is part of marine ecosystem balance and that sharks rarely pose a danger to humans.
A separate video that went viral on social media shows a swimmer with an octopus clinging to his back. The cephalopod released a cloud of ink when the man tried to remove it, illustrating the animal's defensive response. Experts highlighted that octopuses may attach to solid surfaces in shallow water and use ink to deter perceived threats.
