Brazilian insurance experts discuss diversity and risk management

At the 15th Brazilian Actuarial Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Camila Maximo, president of the Sou Segura association, argued that diversity and inclusion should be treated as economic metrics rather than ideologies. She emphasized that diversity impacts profitability, productivity, and employee mental health, noting that since women head most Brazilian households and drive purchasing decisions, inclusive products are essential for business growth.

Maximo also highlighted a critical gap in data regarding vulnerable populations, noting that current risk analysis and pricing models often exclude them. She suggested that the industry needs to advance toward more inclusive insurance models, such as mutuals or cooperatives, to better serve these segments.

In a separate industry event, the National Academy of Insurance and Pension (ANSP) hosted a discussion on catastrophe prevention and climate resilience. Experts presented methodologies for proactive risk management, focusing on integrating human, technological, and organizational factors to anticipate risks and mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events and industrial accidents.
