Brazilian insurers broaden climate coverage and boost vehicle insurance market

The Brazilian insurance sector reported record revenues of R$376.7 billion in the first half of 2025, a 4.2% increase over the previous year, and paid out R$268 billion in claims. The vehicle‑damage segment alone generated R$144.5 billion, up 7.5%, reflecting growing public awareness of risk management.

Following the severe floods in Rio Grande do Sul in 2024, insurers are expanding climate‑related protection products in the South. Partnerships with credit cooperatives enable families and small businesses to obtain residential and loan‑guarantee insurance through familiar financial channels. 180 Seguros’ CEO Mauro Levi D’Ancona highlighted that AI‑driven pricing and faster claim processing aim to reduce bureaucracy and speed payouts after disasters.
