Brazilian investor trends show rising crypto use and credit strategies

Data from the 9th edition of the Raio X do Investidor Brasileiro, conducted by Anbima in partnership with Datafolha, reveals shifting trends in the Brazilian investment landscape. Approximately 36% of the population, or 60.6 million people, hold financial investments.

Regarding digital assets, cryptocurrency investment in Brazil rose from 7% in 2021 to 11%. However, a significant portion of these investors lack professional guidance, with only 26% relying on managers or advisors. Instead, many use social media, videos, or artificial intelligence to inform their decisions. Notably, Federal Revenue data shows that 71.7% of the declared volume of crypto transactions since 2019 involved stablecoins, which function primarily as dollar-pegged accounts for international payments rather than speculative assets like Bitcoin.

In terms of wealth building, experts suggest that credit can be used as a tool for asset accumulation even with limited capital. Strategies such as real estate financing, home equity, and consortia allow individuals to acquire properties that can generate rental income to cover acquisition costs. Experts emphasize that choosing between cash purchases and credit depends on balancing price negotiations against the need to preserve liquidity for reserves and property preparation.
