Brazilian investors shift focus to U.S. franchises
Brazilian investors are increasingly shifting their focus from real estate to business franchises in the United States. This trend involves entrepreneurs investing capital into established franchise networks, particularly in states such as Georgia and Florida, to enter the American market through structured business models.
Data from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) indicates significant interest. In 2023, Brazil ranked sixth among countries with the most EB-5 investor visas granted, with 157 authorizations. Reports suggest that requests from Brazilians grew by approximately 30% in 2024 compared to the previous year.
Unlike traditional real estate investments aimed at appreciation or rental income, franchise investments allow individuals to acquire the rights to operate a brand with predefined processes, suppliers, and standards, as formalized in the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
