Brazil financial sector expands digital and global payment solutions

Financial institutions in Brazil are expanding digital and international payment solutions. BTG Pactual has launched a specialized package for Brazilian students studying abroad, offering a Black credit card with limits up to US$ 6,000 without requiring local credit history, alongside a US-based dollar account and investment options via their app.

As global accounts become more common, a survey by Melhores Cartões indicates that while nearly half of Brazilians use them, 60% still face difficulties choosing a provider. Primary concerns include institutional reliability (47.2%) and understanding complex terms and conditions (37.8%).

In terms of usage trends, digital wallets and contactless mobile payments are seeing significant growth. Data from providers like iFood Benefícios, Flash, and Ticket show a structural shift toward mobile payments. For travelers, experts suggest moving away from physical cash toward digital dollar accounts to avoid higher exchange rates and security risks associated with theft or loss.
