Banco Master owner linked to attempts to influence STF Minister Gilmar Mendes

Messages recovered by the Federal Police from the phone of Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, reveal attempts to influence Brazilian judicial and political figures. Conversations involving lawyer Ciro Soares indicate efforts to arrange a dinner between Vorcaro and Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister Gilmar Mendes. While messages suggest Mendes expressed interest in a meeting, the Minister’s office has denied that any such dinner occurred.

Investigations also highlight that Banco Master reportedly paid former senator Chiquinho Feitosa R$ 500,000 monthly to facilitate interests regarding STF legal processes. Additionally, messages show attempts to facilitate meetings between Vorcaro and Senator Otto Alencar, though Alencar’s office maintains he has never met the banker in person.

In a related development, Fabiano Zettel, Vorcaro’s brother-in-law and alleged financial operator, has indicated he may break his silence to provide information regarding various authorities following a failed plea bargain attempt. Meanwhile, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Central Bank are proposing new regulations for the assignment of court-ordered debts (precatórios) to prevent fraud and speculation, a move spurred by previous scandals involving Banco Master.
