Brazilian Judo Team Dominates IBSA Competitions with Record Medal Hauls
Brazil's visually‑impaired judo squad capped the IBSA Judo American Championships in São Paulo with 21 medals – 11 gold, five silver and five bronze – and finished first in the overall medal table. The event featured 57 athletes from ten American nations and marked the start of the points race for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
In the same venue, Brazil also topped the medal standings at the IBSA Grand Prix, earning 13 medals – six gold, three silver and four bronze – on the competition’s final day. Individual highlights included Arthur Cavalcante’s gold in the up‑to‑95 kg J1 class, Wilians Araújo’s victory in the over‑95 kg J1 division, and Brenda Freitas’s gold in the up‑to‑70 kg J1 category.
