Brazilian judoka Thiego Marques wins gold, taekwondo athlete Fillipe Alves takes bronze in São Paulo

Parauapebas-born judoka Thiero Marques captured the gold medal in the J2 (visually impaired, up to 70 kg) category at the Pan‑American Judo Championships held in São Paulo, defeating opponents from Chile, Colombia and the United States without a loss. His victory helped Brazil top the overall medal table with 11 golds, 5 silvers and 5 bronzes.

In a separate event, Penedo’s Fillipe Alves earned a bronze medal at the Brazil Games international taekwondo competition, also staged in São Paulo. Alves highlighted his gratitude for family, coaches and sponsors, saying the medal reflects the dedication and support he received during training. Both athletes view the results as steps toward future qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
