Brazilian karate teams claim nine medals at 14th World Championship in Romania

Brazilian karate athletes competed at the 14th WUKF World Karate Championship in Cluj‑Napoca, Romania, from 22 to 26 July 2026. The Academia Champions de Vilhena from Rondônia secured six medals – one gold, two silver and three bronze – across junior and cadet categories, highlighted by Aysla da Costa’s gold in the women’s team kumite.

Representing the municipality of Angra dos Reis, three athletes earned bronze medals: Nádia Ribeiro (Veteran B), João Batista (Veteran D) and Isacc Santoro (Junior A / Kata). The two Brazilian groups were part of a 32‑competitor national delegation supported by local sport authorities, underscoring Brazil’s strong showing at the event.
