Brazilian karatekas win multiple medals at JKS World Championship

Brazilian karate athletes achieved significant success at the 7th JKS Shotokan Karate World Championship, held in Vitória, Espírito Santo, from August 20 to 23. The event, which was hosted in Brazil for the first time, featured competitors from over 30 countries.

Athletes from the Yamabushi Karate Academy secured seven medals, including gold in Team Kumite by Nícolas Lafaiete, silver in Team Kata, and bronze in Individual Kata and Individual Kumite. Additionally, Mariah Soares earned bronze in both Individual and Team Kata, while Ana Clara secured a bronze in Team Kata. The academy also noted that Ana Clara became its first female athlete to achieve a black belt.

Representing Araçatuba, the SMELR/Hisatugo team earned nine medals, consisting of five golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. Notable performers included Aisha de Paula Saad, who won gold in both Individual and Team Kumite and silver in Individual Kata, and Beatriz dos Anjos Silva, who earned gold in both Team Kata and Team Kumite alongside a bronze in Individual Kumite. Laura de Oliveira Silva also contributed to the tally with a gold in Team Kumite, silver in Individual Kumite, and bronze in Team Kata.
