Brazilian labor union hosts seminar on psychosocial risk regulation NR-1

The Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT) held a seminar on 28 July at its national headquarters in São Paulo, focusing on psychosocial risks at work and the new NR‑1 regulatory standard. The event, open to union leaders, CIPAs, and other labor representatives, was available both in‑person and remotely.

The seminar aimed to increase awareness of how work organization, excessive demands, harassment, job insecurity and related factors harm mental health, and to equip unions with tools to identify, assess and compel compliance with NR‑1, which obliges companies to manage psychosocial risks.

On 27 July Brazil observed National Accident Prevention Day. The 2023 campaign emphasized preventing psychosocial risks and informed workers about the documentation required to claim INSS benefits for work‑related injuries or diseases, such as medical reports, CAT, PPP and occupational health assessments.

Experts stressed that proper documentation is essential for INSS medical examinations to establish a causal link and grant benefits like sickness aid, accident allowance, disability pensions, or survivor benefits.
