Brazilian lawyers assaulted in Goiás and Espírito Santo

Attorney Alan Araújo Dias, 35, was attacked by six men in an ambush at a bar in Aparecida de Goiânia, Goiás, on July 9. The assault involved blows with a helmet, kicks and a shallow knife wound to the chest. The Goiás Special Homicide Investigation Group is treating the case as attempted homicide.

In a separate incident, 37‑year‑old lawyer Thiago de Moraes Lima was stopped for speeding in Vitória, Espírito Santo, on July 13. He resisted the municipal guard’s orders, assaulted an officer and caused a minor injury before being subdued with pepper spray. Lima was charged with resistance and qualified bodily injury, released on a R$2,000 bail, and the local Bar Association condemned the conduct.

Both incidents highlight violent encounters involving legal professionals in Brazil, prompting investigations by regional police authorities.
