Brazilian legal bodies back STF and Minister Moraes after Milei's attacks

Several Brazilian juridical associations—including the Associação dos Magistrados Brasileiros (AMB), the Associação dos Juízes Federais do Brasil (Ajufe), the Associação Nacional das Magistradas e dos Magistrados da Justiça do Trabalho (Anamatra), the Associação Paulista de Magistrados (Apamagis), the Instituto dos Advogados de São Paulo (IASP) and the Associação Paulista do Ministério Público (APMP)—issued public statements defending the independence of the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) and minister Alexandre de Moraes. The notes condemned the remarks made by Argentine President Javier Milei, which they described as injurious and offensive toward Brazil’s judiciary and sovereign institutions.

The statements reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to judicial autonomy, the sovereignty of its courts and the democratic rule of law, warning that political criticism must remain within civil and respectful limits. They also highlighted concerns that foreign interference could undermine confidence in Brazil’s electoral and judicial processes.
