Brazilian literary academies announce upcoming book launches and lectures

Several Brazilian literary institutions are hosting significant events in August 2026. The Academia Feirense de Letras (AFL) will launch the book ‘História da Academia Feirense de Letras — 1976 a 2026’ on August 25. Authored by João Batista de Cerqueira and Ruy Cerqueira, the work commemorates the institution's 50th anniversary and documents its cultural and literary trajectory since its founding.

The book launch will take place during the opening of the AFL stand at the Feira de Santana Literary and Cultural Festival (Flifs 2026). Throughout the festival, the AFL stand will host various book presentations and launches from its members.

In Campo Grande, the Academia Sul-Mato-Grossense de Letras (ASL) is scheduled to host a lecture by Ignácio de Loyola Brandão, a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras. The event, titled ‘Conversa Literária’, is part of the ‘ABL na ASL’ project and is held in partnership with the Mato Grosso do Sul State Government.
