Brazilian literary festivals announce 2026 themes and honorees

Two Brazilian literary festivals have announced details for their 2026 editions. The 16th Pirenópolis Literary Festival (Flipiri), scheduled for November 6–7 in the historic center of Pirenópolis, Goiás, will operate under the theme “Raízes e Memórias – Vem 300!”. The event coincides with the city’s upcoming 300th anniversary and will honor writer Maria José Silveira, known for works exploring historical periods and female roles in Brazilian society.

In Caraguatatuba, the 2026 Literary Fair (FLIC) focuses on promoting reading and creativity within the municipal school system. This edition honors three prominent Brazilian authors: Ana Maria Machado, a former president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters; Ariano Suassuna, celebrated for his work regarding Northeastern popular culture; and Nye Ribeiro, a writer dedicated to children's literature. The FLIC program involves students, teachers, and families through various pedagogical activities throughout the school year.
