Brazilian Literary Gatherings Spotlight Women Writers

The Pororoka reading group launched its first sarau on 6 August at the Macunaíma Gastropub in Porto Alegre, featuring works by women authors Dani Langer, Maya Falks and others. The event includes an open‑mic segment and musical accompaniment, with a special edition scheduled for 15 August in Caxias do Sul that will pair Langer’s novel *Deságua* with Falks’s *Só entre nós*.

On 26 August, writer Aline Bei will discuss memory, affect and absence at the free "Encontro com os escritores" session in São Paulo’s Biblioteca Mário de Andrade. The debate, moderated by journalist Manuel da Costa Pinto, will focus on Bei’s recent novel *Uma delicada coleção de ausências*, which explores inter‑generational trauma through the perspectives of a granddaughter, grandmother and great‑grandmother.
