Brazilian luxury hotels announce major expansions and renovations

Major Brazilian hospitality developments are underway at two prominent locations. The Copacabana Palace, a Belmond Hotel, is undergoing a significant renovation of its Edifício Piscina. Scheduled for completion in November, the project will introduce 68 new suites, many featuring private balconies with views of Copacabana beach, Christ the Redeemer, and Sugarloaf Mountain. The design, led by architect Ivan Rezende, emphasizes Brazilian identity through the use of native woods, regional stones, and works by local artists such as Ciro Fernandes and Maqueson Pereira da Silva.

In Brumadinho, the Clara Arte hotel, located within the Inhotim open-air museum, is finalizing a R$ 59.3 million expansion. The project, known as Ala Galeria, will increase the hotel's capacity from 46 to 76 accommodations. A key feature of this expansion is its 100% accessibility design, intended to accommodate guests with reduced mobility and families with young children. The new wing will introduce several room categories, including new Presidential suites, with availability expected by late August 2026.
