Brazilian man dies in Ukraine after stepping on landmine

Paulo Ricardo Dutra, a 24-year-old man from Camboriú, Santa Catarina, died in Ukraine after stepping on a landmine during his first mission. Dutra had been in the country for three months undergoing training.

According to his mother, Eunice do Amaral Santos, Dutra had been in regular contact with his family, describing a routine of training and guarding from a safe location. On the day of the incident, he informed his mother he was departing for a mission. His commander later reported that he was injured while attempting to assist another wounded soldier.

The family is currently seeking guidance on how to repatriate his body to Brazil, as it reportedly remains at the site of the incident on the battlefield.
