Brazilian metrology institutes announce new internships and inspector uniforms

The Institute of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo (Ipem/SP) has announced a new selection process for internships in partnership with the Center for Business-School Integration (CIEE). The program is open to high school, technical, and higher education students interested in working at units in Presidente Prudente, Araçatuba, Ribeirão Preto, and São Paulo. Applications are accepted through the CIEE portal from September 25 until October 15, 2026.

In Rio Grande do Norte, the Institute of Weights and Measures (Ipem-RN) has introduced new uniforms for its inspectors to improve visual identification during commercial and industrial inspections. The new attire, featuring logos from Ipem-RN, Inmetro, and the Rio Grande do Norte government, aims to prevent irregular inspections. The institute advises business owners to only permit inspections by agents wearing the official uniform and functional credentials. Additionally, Ipem-RN clarified that metrological fees must only be paid via the official Union Collection Guide (GRU) and not in cash.
