Brazilian mining firms showcase sustainability and community projects
A special sustainability edition of the mining magazine *In The Mine* presented ESG indicators for 17 Brazilian mining companies, including AMG Mineração, Anglo American, Vale and others. The issue highlighted circular‑economy initiatives, water reuse, land rehabilitation, renewable fuels and the newly launched Goiás State Mineral Resources Plan 2050 (PERM 2050), which aims to guide mineral resource management in the state.
Separately, the 2nd Mining & Communities award, organized by Brasil Mineral, recognized projects from CMOC, Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA), Lundin Mining, Galvani and Mosaic for health, climate, rural development, cultural heritage and sensory accommodation initiatives. Jury members emphasized that active listening with local residents creates a social license to operate, strengthens municipalities and aligns corporate ESG efforts with public policy.
Together, the publications illustrate how Brazil's mining sector is emphasizing sustainability, community engagement and regulatory collaboration to improve its social and environmental performance.
