Brazilian municipal camera networks recover cloned vehicles in Niterói and Iguaba Grande

In Niterói, the Centro Integrado de Segurança Pública (CISP) used its electronic perimeter system and AI‑enabled license‑plate cameras to detect a Toyota Hilux that was simultaneously recorded traveling in two states. The alerts allowed the Programa Segurança Presente to locate and seize the cloned pickup on Avenida Feliciano Sodré, leading to the arrest of a suspect for vehicle‑identification fraud and theft.

In the neighboring municipality of Iguaba Grande, a similar camera‑based monitoring center identified a vehicle with suspected cloning. Security teams intercepted the car, seized it, and detained the driver, who has prior fraud convictions. Both incidents highlight the municipalities' reliance on 24‑hour video monitoring and automatic plate‑reading technology to support police, municipal guards, and investigative units in preventing and responding to vehicle‑related crimes.
