Brazilian municipal chambers approve housing and debt reforms
In Rio Piracicaba, the Municipal Chamber approved measures to reorganize local administration and services. A new law expands the responsibilities of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Development, tasking it with planning, coordinating, and evaluating social interest housing policies, including the 'Morar com Dignidade' program. Additionally, new regulations were established to protect the domain of rural roads, governing the installation of fences and gates.
In Apucarana, Councilman Moisés Tavares advocated for a project allowing the municipality to renegotiate its debt with the Federal Government. The proposal seeks to utilize rules from Constitutional Amendment 136 to reduce debt stock and establish fixed monthly payments over a 30-year period. This measure aims to prevent future resource freezes, such as previous confiscations of municipal funds, and to ensure better management of local public investments.
