Brazilian municipal councils approve diverse local measures

The Caraguatatuba City Council approved a law (Project No. 76/2026) guaranteeing representation of African‑derived religious communities in municipal executive events, and upheld the mayor’s veto on a proposal to build vertical cemeteries. The session also passed numerous requests on infrastructure, health, mobility and public honors.

In Brusque, the council enacted several initiatives, including authorising the transfer of radio‑patrol and shared‑management funds to the local military police, creating a permanent transport analyst position, and adopting measures on rural road systems and emergency health training. Additional approvals covered public recognitions, drainage works, and inquiries into drug‑related issues and the removal of a cycle‑lane structure.

Both sessions illustrate active municipal legislation on public safety, infrastructure, cultural representation and community services in the state of Santa Catarina and São Paulo.
