Municipal chambers in Adamantina and Marília approve housing and environmental measures

The Adamantina City Council met on Monday, 15 May, to vote on a law authorising the purchase of a 137,430 m² plot for the construction of 120 popular‑housing units in partnership with the state housing agency CDHU, at a cost of R$ 1.574 million. The session also began discussion of the 2027 municipal budget framework and considered measures to settle debts owed to the local university, allocate over R$ 760 k to social assistance organisations, and grant use rights to private companies.

In Marília, the municipal council also convened on Monday to consider four proposals. A complementary law would double the mandatory buffer zone along the Itambés streams from 50 m to 100 m, expanding protected area. Another bill would reclassify a 2,589‑m² public green area for leisure use to regularise a neighbourhood. Councilors introduced an amendment to embed the rights of nature in the municipal organic law, and a separate proposal sought to rename a municipal early‑childhood school after a noted local educator.

Both cities are using their legislative sessions to advance local development, housing, and environmental protection initiatives.
