Cocal do Sul Council Session Addresses Health Conference, Chemical Waste, and New Basketball Program
The 20th ordinary session of the Câmara Municipal de Cocal do Sul was held on 16 June. Council members discussed the 9th Municipal Health Conference, highlighting community participation in SUS policy and presenting proposals on financing, environmental challenges and service improvements.
Councilwoman Maria Luiza Da Rolt raised concerns over illegal chemical waste dumping on Rua Maceió, which contaminated the sewage system, and praised municipal actions to clean the site. She also reported a reduction in waiting lists for exams and therapies, crediting recent health‑service management. Additionally, she announced the launch of municipal basketball as a new sport for youth, citing a recent local tournament.
Other councilors, including Marcelo Dalló, echoed the health sector’s achievements and discussed ongoing infrastructure works.
