Brazilian municipal councils honor teachers and debate local demands

Legislative sessions in Cabo Frio and Campina Grande recently featured tributes to teachers while addressing local administrative and educational demands.

In Cabo Frio, city councilors honored educators for Teacher's Day and discussed regional issues, including water supply in Vila do Peró, the creation of a mortuary chapel in Tamoios, and tourism development. Councilors also highlighted public security and inspection efforts aimed at organizing local commerce and tourism sectors.

In Campina Grande, councilor Olimpio Oliveira used his platform to honor educators and demand real professional valorization. He specifically called on Mayor Bruno Cunha Lima to reinstate the payment of a 14th salary for teachers in schools that meet or exceed Ideb targets. Additionally, Oliveira urged the municipality to release funds from Fundef and Fundeb surpluses to education professionals, criticizing the administration's decision to challenge existing legal frameworks regarding these payments.
