Brazilian municipal councils pass environmental and economic development measures
The Câmara Municipal of São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo approved four bills covering public administration, budgeting, environmental protection and early‑childhood support. The measures update rules for temporary hiring, set guidelines for the 2027 municipal budget, create a program to protect rural water sources using the Caxambu method, and establish a R$600 monthly aid for legislators with children under two years.
In Congonhas, the municipal chamber passed a law restructuring the Conselho Municipal de Desenvolvimento Econômico (CONDEC) and creating a new Municipal Economic Development Fund. The reform expands council membership, updates its duties to monitor economic policies and supports financing of local development projects through budget allocations, transfers and donations.
