Brazilian municipal councils vote on transparency and debt

In Taquara, the City Council rejected a bill that would have required the municipal government to disclose information regarding waiting lists for public health consultations and exams. The proposal, introduced by Councilor Fabiana da Silva Reinaldo, sought to increase transparency by publishing types of services available and general queue positions on official channels like the Transparency Portal, while ensuring patient anonymity.

In Apucarana, the City Council approved a proposal authorizing the city government to secure a R$30 million loan from Caixa Econômica Federal. Despite the approval, Councilor Odarlone Orente, who had previously recommended against the project in the Justice Committee, voted against the measure. He expressed concerns regarding the city's debt levels and pledged to oversee the contracting and application of the funds to ensure they benefit the population.
