Brazilian municipal health outreach reaches thousands of children and residents

In Caarapó, Brazil, the municipal health secretariat organized a child‑focused health promotion event on July 11. The ESF 4 team conducted weight and height screenings, dental examinations, oral‑hygiene instruction, provided a healthy snack, performed a puppet‑theatre lesson on nutrition, offered facial makeup activities, checked vaccination records, administered vitamin A and gave families guidance on child development.

In João Pessoa, the city’s Caravana do Cuidar mobile service delivered 4,945 appointments across 13 neighborhoods during the first half of the year. Services included issuance of SUS cards (962), CadÚnico registrations (616), medical and dental care, blood‑pressure checks, glucose tests, vaccinations (141), rapid tests, auriculotherapy, legal assistance, and various social‑program referrals. The initiative, coordinated by the Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship and partnered with health, education, social, economic and housing agencies, aims to bring public services directly to communities and expand access to preventive health and social benefits.
