Brazilian municipal health projects showcased at Conasems Congress

The 21st "Brasil, Aqui Tem SUS" exhibition was staged during the 39th National Congress of Municipal Health Secretaries (Conasems) in Porto Alegre, gathering 397 municipal and district initiatives aimed at strengthening Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS). The showcase highlighted strategies such as queue reduction, telemedicine, primary‑care qualification and palliative care, and included a ceremony awarding the most highly rated projects.

Among the highlighted cases, Saquarema's "Caminhos da Saúde" project was presented as a rural medication‑delivery solution. By placing colored PET bottles on household doors, the initiative helps health workers locate hypertensive and diabetic patients in areas with poor addressing. About 150 residents now receive home‑delivered medicines, and the project earned a third‑place prize at a state health‑practice competition and a 12‑month curatorship from Fiocruz to expand its model nationwide. The Conasems event attracted roughly 14,000 participants and was described by the acting Health Minister Adriano Massuda as a platform for sharing territorial innovations that can inform national health policy.
