Brazilian municipal parks reopen after closures

Parque da Cidade in Belém was reopened on July 13 after being closed since July 8 following the fatal electrocution of 16‑year‑old Kelvin Riquelme Paixão da Rocha. The reopening has begun to restore visitor flow and local commerce, with vendors expressing optimism despite lingering rain and low attendance.

Parque Mutirama in Goiânia is set to resume operations gradually from July 17. The first phase grants free access to municipal school students while the city tests the functionality of about 20 of its 25 rides. The teleferic remains out of service, and officials plan to open the park to the general public by October, with ticket prices expected between R$15 and R$20 and free entry for certain groups.
